Utility models are novel inventions which are applicable to industry; however, they do not have to be beyond known technology as patents do.

Methods and chemicals are not subject to utility model applications.

Utility models do not include search and examination procedures unlike patent applications.

Protection term for utility models is 10 years while it is 20 years for examined patents.
