Patent Prosedure

Inventions are subject to formal examination by experts in TPI upon receipt of the application. In this period inventions are being examined whether they are appropriate for protection as patents or not.

In case application lacks formal sufficiency, applicant should fulfill needs within 3 months.

Following formal sufficiency phase is completed, applicant should request search for patent in one of the contracted countries. Search period ends 15 months after the application date. Said phase is essential for application to be identified whether it is patentable or not. The subject of the invention is being searched worldwide and related documents are being listed attached to the report.

Next stage is system choice with respect to the result of search report. Examination may be demanded within 6 months after the search report is published. In case of absence of system choice within 3 months, application will be considered as non-examined.
